FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is chro?
chro is the human side of your agent harness. Agents from Claude Code or Codex browse, generate, and code in isolated git worktrees. chro is where you see their results and diffs, and decide what gets merged.
Do I need a Claude or ChatGPT subscription?
Yes, chro works with your Claude Code, Codex, or ChatGPT subscription. Sign in with your account and use your existing subscription. chro itself is free during beta.
How is chro different from Claude Code CLI?
Claude Code CLI is the harness—it runs agents, manages context, and orchestrates tools. chro is the human side: a native desktop app where you see every agent's results and diffs, feed context from your Markdown vault, and approve what gets merged.
How is chro different from Claude Desktop?
Claude Desktop is a general-purpose chat interface. chro is purpose-built for reviewing what agents produce—code diffs, generated assets, browser output—across multiple parallel worktrees, with git workflows designed for shipping.
How is chro different from 1Code or Conductor?
1Code is a visual client for running coding agents in parallel. Conductor runs a team of agents on your Mac. chro starts one step earlier—from your knowledge. Your Markdown vault feeds agent context, and the review workflow ensures you stay in control of what gets merged. If you want a better terminal, those tools are great. If you want the human side of the harness, that's chro.
Can I run multiple agents at once?
Yes! Each agent runs in its own isolated git worktree. You can launch multiple agents from a single task screen and let them work in parallel without conflicts.
What operating systems are supported?
chro is available for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows. We're focused on providing a native experience on each platform.
Is my data sent to external servers?
chro is local-first. Your knowledge, notes, and code stay on your machine. Only the prompts you send go through Anthropic's API using your own Claude Code / Codex subscription.
Is chro affiliated with Anthropic?
No, chro is an independent product. We use Claude Code under the hood via your Anthropic subscription, but we are not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic.
